Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. – Fifteen seniors played their final game for the Caldwell College baseball team, which lost to Bloomfield College, 5-2 in the season finale Sunday afternoon at the Kiwanis Oval. The Cougars complete their season with a record of 6-28, while the Deacons wrap up the year with a 12-22 mark.
Bloomfield scored all five of its runs in the top of the fifth inning on four hits, including a two-run double by Ben Thomas. Caldwell scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from senior
Thomas Pisano (N. Bellmore/Mepham) that plated senior
Stephen Dodd (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley). Then in the sixth, Dodd hit a solo home run to left to make the score 5-2. The Cougars put runners on second and third in the eighth, and advanced a runner to second in the ninth but were unable to capitalize.
Caldwell recorded just five hits against six Bloomfield pitchers, while nine Cougar hurlers limited the Deacons to seven hits in the game. Seniors Dodd, Pisano,
Jack Joyce (Bayside, NY/St. Mary's),
Joe O'Donnell (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and
Stephen Luczaj (N. Merrick, NY/Mepham) had the hits for Caldwell. Senior pitchers
Dan Bartlett (Levittown, NY/Island Trees),
Chris DeRogatis (N. Arlington, NJ/Queen of Peace),
Nick Karalekas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman),
Al Etter (Millville, NJ/Sacred Heart),
Robert Bennetti (Laurence Harbor, NJ/Old Bridge) and
Steve Valenti (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) also took the mound in their final game.

Bloomfield seniors Kevin Caraballo, Paul Chong, David Martinez, Joe Meola, Dominique Parra and Allen Rivera also played in their final collegiate game on Sunday.
