Box Score POMONA, N.Y. – The Caldwell College baseball team fell to Dominican College, 11-8 in a non-conference game Friday afternoon at Provident Bank Park. The Cougars are now 4-24 overall, while the Chargers improve to 18-19.
After Dominican scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead, Caldwell answered with three runs in the top of the third. Senior
Thomas Pisano (N. Bellmore, NY/Merrick) drew a bases-loaded walk, a grounder by junior
Jack Joyce (Bayside, NY/St. Mary's) plated senior
Joe O'Donnell (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and junior
Anthony Caruso (N. Babylon, NY/N. Babylon) came home on a wild pitch. But the Chargers came back strong with four runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to lead 10-4. O'Donnell scored on a groundout by Pisano in the fifth for Caldwell.
The Cougars continued to battle back, loading the bases in the top of the sixth. A sacrifice fly from senior
Paul Nyitray (Cranford, NJ/St. Joseph), a two-run double by O'Donnell and an RBI single from Pisano brought Caldwell within two, 10-8. After Dominican added a run in the seventh, the Cougars put runners in scoring position in the final three innings but were unable to score.
O'Donnell led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs, a double and two RBIs, while senior
Andrew Nunez (East Elmhurst, NY/Cardozo) had two hits and Pisano drove in three runs. The Cougars drew 12 walks but stranded 13 runners on base for the game. Senior lefty

Caldwell plays a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader with Nyack College on Tuesday, Apr. 29, starting at 3:00 p.m. at the Kiwanis Oval.
