Box Score 2 LYNDHURST, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team lost a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games to Felician College, 9-0 and 10-1 in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Cougars fall to 4-23 overall and 1-15 in conference play, while the Golden Falcons improve to 22-15, 13-5 CACC.
In the first game, Caldwell was held to one hit by three Felician pitchers in a 9-0 shutout. Senior
Thomas Pisano (N. Bellmore, NY/Mepham) singled in the top of the fifth for the Cougars' lone hit. Jerry Vasto started and pitched seven innings, striking out 11 and allowing no runs and one hit. The Golden Falcons had 16 hits, with four players collecting three hits apiece. Senior
Dan Bartlett (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) started and took the loss for Caldwell.
The Cougars fell behind, 4-0 in the second game before scoring a run in the top of the sixth on a single by junior
Anthony Caruso (N. Babylon, NY/N. Babylon) that brought home freshman
Ryan Rivera (Saddle Brook, NJ/St. Joseph). But Felician scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and four more runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Pisano and senior
Paul Nyitray (Cranford, NJ/St. Joseph) had two hits apiece for Caldwell.
Junior
Michael Sheridan (Caldwell, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) pitched five innings and absorbed the loss, while Jack Fowler earned the win after giving up one run on five hits in six innings of work for Felician.
Caldwell plays a non-conference game at Dominican College on Friday, Apr. 25 at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, N.Y. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
