CALDWELL, N.J. – Sophomore guard
Nicole Angelo (Mount Laurel, NJ/Camden Catholic) went 5-of-5 from three-point range en route to a career-high 25 points, as the Caldwell College women's basketball team defeated Post University, 77-68 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Tuesday night at the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars complete the season sweep of Post and improve to 12-10 overall and 10-5 in league play. The Eagles are now 8-13, 8-7 CACC.
Caldwell took control early, opening up with a 15-5 run over the first 4:30 of the game. The Cougars maintained a double-digit lead through the second part of the first half, eventually taking a 42-24 advantage into the halftime break. Angelo hit all four of her three-point attempts in the half and scored 14 points, as Caldwell shot 54.8 percent from the field while holding Post to 29.0 percent. The Cougars also enjoyed a huge advantage on the glass, out-rebounding the Eagles 29-8. Senior forward

Alyssa James (Rosedale, NY/St. Mary's) in the first minute of the second half gave Caldwell its largest lead of the game, 46-24. Post gradually cut into the lead, coming within 10 points, 54-44 midway through the half before threes from junior forward

Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, NY/Ardsley) pushed the lead back up to 16.
Caldwell still led 67-54 with 3:39 remaining when seven points from Aubrey Latham sparked a 9-0 run that brought Post within four, 67-63 with 35 seconds on the clock. But Angelo made 8-of-8 from the line and senior guard
Marielle Duryea (Middle Village, NY/Archbishop Molloy) hit two free throws down the stretch to put the game away and end a three-game losing skid. The Cougars hit 16-of-18 from the charity stripe for the game and tallied a 53-27 bulge in rebounding.
Angelo was perfect from beyond the arc and from the line (8-of-8) in recording a career-high 25 points. Anderson finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the season, while Caswell added 12 points and 13 boards for her fourth double-double. James contributed nine points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, and Duryea delivered five assists. Aubrey, the CACC's leading scorer, scored all 22 of her points in the second half to lead Post.
Caldwell hosts Goldey-Beacom College in another CACC contest on Saturday, Feb. 15, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Newman Center.
