CALDWELL, N.J. – A goal by junior defender Steve Petrosino (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) in the 71st minute lifted the Caldwell College men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over East Stroudsburg University Tuesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The win gives the Cougars a 3-1 record on the season, while the Warriors drop to 0-5-1.

Caldwell opened the scoring midway through the first half, with senior forward Kristopher Olsen-Barr (Brick, Twp./Brick Twp.) finding the net off an assist from freshman defender Sjoerd Blankenstein (Driebergen, Netherlands/Openbaar). East Stroudsburg tied the score in the 27th minute on a goal by Matthew Geidner.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 until seven minutes into the second half, when freshman forward Haakon Sulheim (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) tallied an unassisted goal, his team-leading fifth of the season. Again the Warriors came back to tie the game, with Nemanja Nikolic scoring in the 68th minute. A little over three minutes later, Petrosino scored off a free kick from junior midfielder Yousef Elhusseini (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) for a 3-2 lead. This time East Stroudsburg was unable to come back, as sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made two saves and defended a corner kick in the game's final six minutes to close out the win.

Hartmann matched his career high with nine saves in the victory, while Callum Hampson recorded two saves for the Warriors.

The Cougars host Philadelphia University on Saturday, Sept. 21 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. The game, which is a part of Caldwell's homecoming weekend festivities, begins at 2:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
