CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team lost a non-conference game to Pace University, 3-0 Thursday afternoon at Finnerty Field. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 7-19 on the season, while the Setters improve to 20-9.
Pace broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Tom Midolo and Robert Horn driving in runs for a 2-0 lead. The Setters added another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Charlie Galasso. The Cougars recorded six hits on the day, including two from freshman
Mike La Torraca (West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell). But three Pace pitchers kept Caldwell off the scoreboard to clinch the Setters' second win over the Cougars this season.

Dan Bartlett (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) started and allowed two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. Junior
Steve Valenti (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) pitched two scoreless innings of relief. Ryan Mihalkovitz held Caldwell to four hits and no runs over six innings to earn the win for Pace.
The Cougars are scheduled to play a non-conference game against Dominican College on Friday, Apr. 12. The first pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Kiwanis Oval.
