BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Caldwell College women's basketball team defeated Concordia College, 73-60 in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center. The Cougars (17-11) finish the regular season with a 15-4 mark in the league to win the CACC North Division.
This is the first year that Caldwell has finished alone in first place in the CACC North since the conference went to divisions in 2007-08. The Cougars tied for first with Bloomfield College in 2010-11.
Caldwell broke open a close game by reeling off a 19-7 run over the final eight minutes of the first half to lead 38-28 at the break. Sophomore forward 
Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) hit two threes in the run, while junior forward 
Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, MA/Lynn English) scored 10 points in the first half.
The Cougars remained in control into the second half, leading 50-41 with 13:50 to play when Concordia scored the next six points to pull within three, 50-47. Free throws from senior guard 
Torey Jones (Providence, RI/LaSalle Acad.), a basket from Anderson and a three-pointer by senior center 
Gillian Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) restored the nine-point lead, 57-48 with 7:42 remaining. The Clippers (9-18, 8-11 CACC), who needed a win to clinch a spot in next week's CACC Tournament, came within seven points twice. But Jones scored eight points down the stretch, including a three-pointer, to help Caldwell wrap up its 13th consecutive victory.
Jones shot 4-of-7 from three-point range on her way to a game-high 25 points. Anderson finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Felix registered 15 points and 12 boards. The Cougars made 7-of-12 from beyond the arc for the game compared to 6-of-24 for Concordia, and held a 43-36 rebounding advantage. Sade Jones led the Clippers with 22 points.
As the top seed from the North, Caldwell hosts Philadelphia University, the No. 4 seed from the South, in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament on Saturday, Mar. 2. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start in the George R. Newman Center.
