CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team set a school record with its 10th straight victory, defeating Chestnut Hill College, 69-53 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday night in the George R. Newman Center. The win also clinches at least second place in the CACC North and a home game in the first round of the conference tournament for the Cougars (14-11, 12-4 CACC). The Lady Griffins fall to 4-17, 2-12 CACC.
With the game tied at 17-17 with under six minutes left in the first half, Caldwell closed out the half with a 14-6 run to take a 31-23 lead at the break. Senior guard

Nicole Angelo (Mount Laurel, NJ/Camden Catholic) hit threes in the run, while junior forward
Jeanette Anderson (Lynn, MA/Lynn English) scored eight points in the half.
Anderson and the Cougars stayed hot to start the second half, as Anderson scored 11 points in a 14-4 spree over the first five minutes to lead 45-27. Chestnut Hill answered with a 14-3 run of its own, getting six points from Lindsay Alexander to cut the deficit to seven, 48-41 with 8:23 remaining. But Caldwell quickly pushed the lead back up to 12 following a conventional three-point play from sophomore forward
Emily Caswell (Wakefield, RI/Prout School) that made the score 57-45 with five minutes to go. The Lady Griffins came within 58-49 at the 3:37 mark, but the Cougars finished the game with an 11-4 run to earn the victory.
Caldwell grabbed 18 offensive rebounds to build a 49-37 rebounding advantage, and scored 25 points off 19 Chestnut Hill turnovers. Anderson registered her 12th double-double of the season with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Jones added 10 points, three assists and two steals, while Caswell grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds to go with eight points and four assists. Defensively, junior
Marielle Duryea (Middle Village, NY/Archbishop Molloy) tallied five steals. Alexander paced the Lady Griffins with 18 points and 10 boards.
The old program record for longest winning streak was set during the 1996-97 season and was tied by the 2010-11 squad two years ago. Caldwell clinched its sixth consecutive trip to the CACC Tournament and third straight home game in the first round, which begins on Mar. 2. The semifinals and finals of the tournament will be held Mar. 8-9 at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Cougars continue CACC play with a game at Wilmington University on Saturday, Feb. 16, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in New Castle, Del.
