The Cougars took control early and built a 29-10 lead with eight minutes to play in the first half. After a pair of free throws from junior guard
Jessica Coscia (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) made the score 33-14, the Lions scored the final 12 points of the first half to cut the deficit to seven, 33-26 at the break. Junior forward

Morgan Thompson (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) each scored eight points in the half for Caldwell, while Ashiri Broadwater had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Georgian Court in the first half.
Two baskets from Anderson and a lay-up from Caswell pushed the lead to 39-26 early in the second half. Seven straight points, capped by a three from Tara Steakin, pulled the Lions to within six, 45-39 with 15:51 remaining. Georgian Court again came within six points with nine minutes left, only to have the Cougars increase their lead up to 12 points en route to the victory. Caldwell shot 52.0 percent from the field in the second half while making 7-of-16 from three-point range for the game.
Anderson scored 24 of her 30 points in the second half, making 12-of-22 from the field for the game. Defensively, she also had two blocks. Caswell also notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Thompson's eight points are a career high. Coscia finished with six assists against just two turnovers. Tahira Matthews ended up with 20 points and nine rebounds for GCU.
Caldwell plays a non-league contest at home on Friday, Dec. 13 against Franklin Pierce University. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
