LANTANA, Fla. – The Caldwell College baseball team started the 2012 season with a 4-0 loss to Dowling College on the first day of the Palm Beach Challenge, held at the Santaluces Sports Complex Friday night. The Cougars were 16-25 and advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament.

Caldwell struggled offensively, managing two singles while striking out 15 times. Sophomore Stephen Luczaj (N. Merrick, NY/Mepham) and senior Jorge Ynoa (Bayside, NY/Bayside) had hits in the sixth and ninth innings, respectively. Dowling scored twice in the sixth and two more runs in the eighth to improve to 4-6.

The Cougars play UMass-Lowell on Sunday, Mar. 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Santaluces Sports Complex.
