Caldwell Cross Country Takes Ninth at CACC Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Caldwell College cross country squad placed ninth at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships, held Sunday morning at Belmont Plateau. Freshman Taylor Landis (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) led the Cougars with a 27th-place finish in the individual scoring.

Landis turned in a time of 22 minutes, 14 seconds on the 5,000-meter course, the fastest time by a Cougar at Belmont Plateau in the 10-year history of the program. Senior Sara Wilkins (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was next, taking 33rd in 22:51. Rounding out the top five for Caldwell were junior Abigail Lenz (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Twp.) in 60th, senior Amanda Berry (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) in 64th and sophomore Ana Carballo (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) in 66th.

The ninth-place finish in the team standings was the highest finish for Caldwell since taking eighth in 2006. Philadelphia University won the team title, while Wilmington's Althea Davidson won the individual crown.

The Cougars will run at the NCAA East Region Meet on Sunday, Nov. 4 in Nashua, N.H.
