COUGARS LOSE TO ST. THOMAS AQUINAS IN BASEBALL

FISHKILL, N.Y. - The Caldwell College baseball team dropped a non-conference game at St. Thomas Aquinas College, 10-0 Thursday afternoon at Duchess Stadium. The loss gives the Cougars an overall record of 8-12, while the Spartans improve to 12-9-1.

Caldwell struggled to get on track offensively, managing just two hits while advancing only three runners as far as second base. St. Thomas Aquinas scored six runs on four hits, two walks and one error in the bottom of the first to take a commanding lead. The Spartans then added four more runs in the bottom of the third on two hits, two walks and an error. Robert Frank started on the mound for the host Spartans and held the Cougars to two hits while striking out five and walking three in five innings of work. Freshman Stephen Dodd (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) absorbed the loss in his first collegiate start.

Next up for Caldwell is a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader with Nyack College on Saturday, Apr. 2. The games, which were originally scheduled to be played at Nyack, will be played at the Kiwanis Oval in Caldwell, N.J., beginning at 9:00 a.m.
