LEEDHAM SETS MARK IN 64-52 VICTORY AT CONCORDIA

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Junior guard Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) scored a game-high 27 points and broke the school record for career three-pointers to lead the Caldwell College women's basketball team to a 64-52 victory over Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday night in the Meyer Athletic Center. The win is the Cougars' third in a row and gives them a 13-10 record overall, including 9-7 in conference play. The Clippers drop to 1-23, 1-15 CACC.

Leedham, who entered the game tied with Jennifer Carleton with 149 threes in her career, became Caldwell's all-time leader with a three-pointer midway through the first half to put the Cougars on top 14-5. The trey was a part of a 13-2 run that gave Caldwell a 22-7 advantage with 7:41 left in the half. Leedham's next three came just before halftime to make the score 31-16 Cougars heading into the break. Leedham outscored the Clippers by herself in the half with 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field.

Caldwell maintained control of the game in the second half and expanded the lead to as many as 20 points, 56-36 with eight minutes remaining. The lead was 16 points with under three minutes to play when Concordia scored six of the final eight points of the contest to make the final score 64-52. The Cougars overcame poor shooting from the field (28.6 percent) by out-rebounding the Clippers 48-33 and swiping 14 steals to match their season best.

Leedham made 9-of-20 from the field for the game and hit a season-high five three-pointers in 11 attempts. She has scored at least 18 points in each of her last 12 games, and has nine games with 20 or more points this season. Sophomore forward Kaitlyn Lambert (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) tallied eight of her 11 points in the second half and grabbed 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Freshman guard Torey Jones (N. Providence, RI/LaSalle Acad.) also had 11 points, while freshman center Gillian Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) recorded nine points and 10 boards in the win. Concordia was led by Sheri Cordero, who had 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, Feb. 20, when they host Wilmington University. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
