CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team fell to Nyack College, 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Cougars, who are 2-7 overall, drop to 2-3 in league play, while the Warriors improve to 4-7-1, 3-2-1 CACC.
Gavin Penny tallied the only goal Nyack would need in the 26th minute, when he ran down a pass from Bobby Caskran and chipped a shot over sophomore goalkeeper John Londono (West New York, NJ/Memorial) and into the goal. The Cougars played all but five minutes and 21 seconds with a one-man advantage, as a Nyack defender received a red card for fouling senior midfielder Justin Miller (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) as he broke in alone. Caldwell did not convert on the subsequent free kick from just outside the penalty area in the Cougars' best scoring chance of the day.
Londono finished with five saves, while Adrian Ibanez recorded six saves to post the shutout. Later in the first half, Miller suffered a serious leg injury and did not return.
Caldwell hosts Post University on Thursday, Oct. 8 in another CACC game at Caldwell Field. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
