ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team was shut out by Dominican College, 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Thursday afternoon at the DC Soccer Field. The loss is the Cougars' third straight and extends their winless streak to five while dropping their record to 3-11-1 overall, 3-7 CACC. The Chargers are now 13-2-2, 8-2-1 CACC.
Alan Heavey scored all three goals for Dominican, including what proved to be the game-winner in the ninth minute. Heavey headed home a cross from Joe Wright for a 1-0 lead. He then finished another pass from Wright in the 30th minute to put the Chargers on top 2-0. Heavey completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal in the 59th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper John Londono (West New York, NJ/Memorial) made two saves in goal for Caldwell, while Brandon Heembrock registered two saves to preserve the shutout. The Chargers held a 13-7 advantage in shots, including 5-2 in shots on frame.
Caldwell plays its final regular-season game on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Holy Family University. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
