COUGARS FALL TO NO. 11 HOLY FAMILY IN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, 70-61

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at Holy Family University, 71-60 Saturday afternoon in the Campus Center. The result gives the Cougars a 9-6 record on the season, including a 3-4 mark in the conference. The Tigers, ranked 11th in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, remain unbeaten at 15-0, 7-0 CACC.

Holy Family took control of the game midway through the first half with a 22-2 run that gave the Tigers a 36-13 lead with just over five minutes left in the half. During the run, Caldwell made just 1-of-10 from the field and turned the ball over six times. The Cougars shot just 25.8 percent from the floor for the half compared to 60.0 percent for Holy Family, which took a 45-23 advantage at the break.

A pair of three-pointers by freshman guard Stephanie Cadet (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial), pictured, helped Caldwell open the second half with a 12-0 spree that cut the Tigers' lead to 45-35 with 15:34 remaining. But a 9-2 Holy Family run that resulted in a 59-41 lead with just under nine minutes to play put the game out of reach for the Cougars, who never got closer than 14 points until the game's final minute. Caldwell shot the ball better in the second half at 45.5 percent while holding the Tigers to 34.4 percent to out-score Holy Family 37-26 after halftime.

Freshman guard Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) led Caldwell with 16 points and three steals, while Cadet finished with 15 points and two steals. Senior guard Dana Leary (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) and junior forward Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) each grabbed seven boards. Catherine Carr tallied 23 points and Christine McCollum had 19 points and nine rebounds to pace the Tigers.

Next up for Caldwell is a CACC home game against Post University on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
