MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS HOLY FAMILY 3-0 FOR THIRD STRAIGHT SHUTOUT

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Sophomore forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) tallied a goal and an assist to lift the Caldwell College men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Wednesday afternoon. The win also marked the third consecutive shutout for the Cougars, who have outscored their opponents 14-0 during that stretch. The Cougars are now 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the CACC, while the Tigers fall to 6-5, 2-3 CACC.

The teams played even for most of the first half until the Cougars struck in the 37th minute. Bennett played the ball down the right side for sophomore defender Kagiso Rhenoster (Mafikeng, South Africa/Mmbatho), whose perfect cross into the penalty area was headed home by sophomore forward Luis Sartorio (Asuncion, Paraguay/St. Benedict's Prep). The goal was Sartorio's first of the season and proved to be the game-winner.

Senior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) gave Caldwell a two-goal advantage when he knocked in a rebound off a shot by Bennett in the 74th minute for his team-leading ninth goal of the season. Bennett notched his sixth of the year in the 83rd minute when he dribbled past two defenders and beat Tigers' goalkeeper Patrick Becker from 15 yards out.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kareem Grant (Elmont, NY/Wolmer's), who has been in goal for the Cougars' past three shutouts, made three saves in the win. Becker was credited with six saves as the Cougars held a 25-10 advantage in shots.

Next up for the Cougars is an important CACC battle with Wilmington College, which is ranked ninth in the latest New England Region rankings. The home game is on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2:00 p.m. and is a part of Caldwell College's Homecoming 2006 celebration.
