CROSS COUNTRY WINS FIRST HOME MEET

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's cross country team took the top four spots and defeated Post University, 17-48 in the first meet ever held on the campus of Caldwell College Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Jerrica Kahwaty (Clifton, NJ/Clifton), left, won the 5,000-meter race with a time of 26 minutes, three seconds.

Juniors Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) and Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/USC-Aiken) finished one second apart to take second and third, respectively, followed by senior Katie Doster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) in fourth. Junior Lauren O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney) rounded out the Cougars' lineup with a seventh-place finish.

Vanessa Laganes was the first Eagle runner across the finish line, taking fifth. The meet marked the first intercollegiate competition for the women's cross country program at Post.

The Cougars will run at the N.J.I.T. Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City, N.Y.
