PARSIPPANY, N.J. - Four Cougars hit home runs, including three in the first inning, as the Caldwell College baseball team defeat Post University, 15-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Friday afternoon at Smith Field. The Cougars are now 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the CACC, while the Eagles are 1-24-1, 0-10.
The Cougars put nine runs on the board in the first inning, with senior Fadul Bambino (Astoria, NY/Queensborough CC) singling home senior Joe Catenacci (Helmetta, NJ/Spotswood) to start things off. Senior Ryan McGee (Cedarhurst, NY/Lawrence) hit a three-run homer, followed by a walk and a two-run shot by junior Nick Mauro (Nutley, NJ/Nutley). Then with two out and two on, senior Mike Kolesar (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) (pictured) hit a three-run homer, his first of the season, in his second plate appearance of the inning. Junior Landon Viessy (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) also hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the bottom of the fourth that gave the Cougars a 13-0 lead.
Kolesar also picked up the victory on the mound, going 8.0 innings and allowing seven hits and no runs while fanning five to improve to 2-3 on the season.
Caldwell and Post play again tomorrow in a doubleheader in Waterbury, Conn., starting at 12:00 p.m.
