CALDWELL DROPS CACC CONTEST AT POST, 60-56

WATERBURY, Conn. - Sophomore guard Jenn Murray (Jackson, NJ/Jackson), pictured, scored a career-high 21 points as the Caldwell College women's basketball team lost to Post University, 60-56 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday evening at the Drubner Center. The loss dropped the Cougars to 5-8 in the conference and 6-12 overall, while the Eagles improved to 5-13 overall and 5-10 in the CACC.

The Cougars jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the game's first eight minutes on the strength of three three-pointers from Murray and seven points from sophomore guard Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame). But the Eagles tied the game with 13 straight points, and then closed out the half with an 11-3 run that gave them a 36-28 lead at halftime.

Caldwell then opened the half allowing just one Post field goal in 12 attempts while forcing six turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the half in an 11-2 Cougar run. The lead would change hands five times before the Eagles built a 55-48 lead with under four minutes left in the game. Five points from freshman guard Corrie McIntyre (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park Regional) sparked a run of eight straight points to give Caldwell a 56-55 advantage with less than a minute to play. Post's Courtney McGinnis then made a lay-up with 18 seconds left to take a 57-56 lead. The Cougars missed a three-pointer on their next possession, and Post's Christine Daley made 3-of-4 from the line down the stretch to clinch the win.

Murray, whose previous career-high was 14 points, also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds while shooting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Ransom finished with 11 points, and McIntyre had nine points, three assists and three steals in the loss. Jennifer Plante scored 11 points for Post, and Tadj Williams added a game-high 11 boards for Post.

Caldwell's next game is Saturday, Feb. 5, when the Cougars host Felician College at the Newman Center. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
