Katie O'Connor (Charlottesville, Va.) tossed a complete-game seven hitter as Caldwell softball fell to Bridgeport, 5-1, on Championship Day at the CACC Softball Tournament on Saturday at Asbury Field.
O'Connor allowed one earned run and walked one, striking out one. She was selected to the All-Tournament team along with sophomore catcher
Arlette Batista (Carteret, N.J.), freshman 1B
Emerson Jarrard (Carlsbad, Calif.) and junior center fielder
Kenzie Nazionale (Ontario, Calif.).
The Cougars scored in the second inning when freshman DP
Maddie Long (Folcroft, Pa.) singled in Batista to cut Caldwell's deficit to 2-1. but UB (33-18) added three in the fourth and the Cougars  (29-19) could not answer.
The Cougars, ranked No. 4 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region Softball poll, await their selection seed and Regional location for next week's tournament. The Selection Show is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday on NCAA.org.
