Maddie Matkosky (Horseheads, N.Y.) had a three-run home run in the opener and scored three times in the nightcap, as Caldwell University softball clinched the No. 1 seed in next weekend's CACC Softball Championships with a 11-0 and 13-1 sweep of Dominican at DUNY Softball Field on Tuesday afternoon.
In game one, the Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the host Lady Chargers came to bat, highlighted by Matkosky's three-run home run to center. They added one in the second on an RBI single by sophomore catcher

Katie O'Connor (Charlottesville, Va.) went the first three shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks, and graduate righty
Jayden Hill (Geneva, N.Y.) covered the final two scoreless frames for Caldwell (24-14, 14-2 CACC).
In game two, a five-run third, with RBI hits by Mazur, Preston and soph 2B
Liza Mannarino (Albany, N.Y.) capping the rally, and six-run seventh put the game away, with six different Cougars batting teammates across the plate in the inning.
Sophomore righty
Haleigh Fisher (Smyrna, N.Y.) went the distance, striking out eight and allowing just one run and one walk.
The Cougars, who have won 23 of their last 26, next visit Holy Family in Philadelphia on Saturday to close the CACC regular season. Caldwell will host the No. 8 seed in a best-of-three series on May 2 and 3 (if necessary) at Caldwell Athletic Field.
