WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senior midfielder
Meghan Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) scored five goals, matching her career high, and freshman midfielder
Zoe Rocha (Houston) made her collegiate debut a strong one with three markers, leading Caldwell women's lacrosse to a season-opening 16-5 triumph over UDC on Saturday.
Senior GK
Serena Barra (Cranford, N.J.) played the first three quarters in goal, registering six saves to record the victory.
With the score tied at 1 in the first, Caldwell rattled off five straight goals, three by Korzevinski and two by Rocha, to take a 6-1 lead with 8:20 remaining in the half. UDC closed to within 7-4 at halftime, but the Cougars came out strong after the intermission, outscoring the Firebirds, 6-0 and going on to score nine straight goals until a final marker with 15 seconds left by UDC accounted for the final margin.
Junior midfielder

Caldwell next plays Millersville on Tuesday, a neutral-site game at the USA Lacrosse Center/Tierney Field in Sparks, Md. on Tuesday.
