CALDWELL, N.J. -- Sophomore 3B
Lindsay Oller (So. Plainfield, N.J.) had four RBI, including a two-run game-ending homer to finish off Game 1, and junior CF
Kenzie Nazionale (Ontario, Calif.) had four hits and three steals in the twinbill as Caldwell Softball ran its winning streak to six with a pair of victories over Pace on Tuesday at Caldwell Athletic Field.
Junior righty
Katie O'Connor (Charlottesville, Va.) tossed her third straight complete game win, permitting just five hits and a walk in five innings. She was supported by CU's 10-hit attack, with Nazionale posting three hits, three runs and two RBI, and Oller driving in single runs in the first and second before her blast to center field invoked the run rule in the bottom of the fifth.
Game two was tighter against the Setters (11-5), who took a 3-2 lead in the second before freshman 1B
Emerson Jarrard (Carlsbad, Calif.) singled in the tying run in the third, with the go-ahead tally coming in on an error on the play. Sophomore 2B
Maddie Matkosky (Horseheads, N.Y.) gave the Cougars (7-11) a cushion with an RBI double an inning later. Sophomore RHP
Haleigh Fisher (Smyrna, N.Y.), who entered in relief in the third, went the rest of the way, stranding the potential tying and go-ahead runs by inducing a game-ending fly out.
Matkosky and Jarrard had three hits in the doubleheader.
The Cougars next visit Chestnut Hill in CACC play on Thursday.
