WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Junior midfielder Evan Uriguen (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) had a team-best three goals as Caldwell men's lacrosse fell in a non-league matchup at District of Columbia at UDC Athletics Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cougars battled back after trailing, 10-1, at halftime, narrowing the deficit to 12-7 with a six-goal third period. But the Firebirds defense held CU (1-4) without a goal in the fourth to secure the win.

Junior defenseman James McCarthy (Middletown, N.J.) and junior FO specialist Valentine Soltys (Westmont, N.J.) had six ground balls apiece.

Senior GK Edwin Himmel-Maines (Delta, Pa.) made 11 saves for the Cougars.

Adam Zima's five goals led UDC.

The Cougars next host Post on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kiwanis Oval.
