Uriguen Game-Winner, Himmel-Maines Saves Lift Men's Lacrosse To CACC Win Over Felician

Glatfelter's five goals help Cougars Rally for First Win of the Season, First Head Coaching win for Dominic Scorcia

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Junior midfielder Evan Uriguen (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) scored with 9:12 left and added an insurance marker with 6:28 to play, capping a 5-0 spurt to start the fourth quarter and lifting Caldwell men's lacrosse to a thrilling 12-11 triumph over Felician at Tryon Field on Wednesday evening in CACC action. It marks the first head coaching win for Caldwell mentor Dominic Scorcia.

Trailing, 10-7, after three, the Cougars drew even on two goals by senior midfielder Zakkery Glatfelter (New Oxford, Pa.) sandwiched around a marker by Uriguen to knot the score at 10 with 10:44 left.

Junior attackman Michael Spitz (Ringwood, N.J.) then found a wide open Uriguen who fired it past the Felician goalkeeper from 15 yards out almost straight-on, for the go-ahead goal . Three minutes later, it was junior attackman Spencer Knapp (Point Pleasant, N.J.) who beat his defender and delivered a feed to Uriguen in front, who whipped it in for the two-goal lead.

The Golden Falcons (1-3, 0-1 CACC) drew within a goal with just under five minutes to play, but senior GK Edwin Himmel-Maines (Delta, Pa.) registered four saves the rest of the way, the final one at the 0:23 mark from point blank range to preserve the emotional win.

Glatfelter had a game-high five goals, Uriguen added four, Spitz had a game-best five assists, while Knapp and senior attacker Gavin Starr (Montgomery, N.Y.) each contributed a goal and two assists.

Himmel-Maines was unbelievable in net for the Cougars, making 18 saves. Junior Valentine Soltys (Westmont, N.J.) won 14 faceoffs and nabbed 12 ground balls, while junior defenseman James McCarthy (Middletown, N.J.) gobbled up eight grounders.

The Cougars (1-3, 1-1) next visit UDC next Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
