Early Leads Evaporate, Baseball Swept by Post

Levine Drives in Four in Twinbill

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Freshman 3B Justin Levine (Staten Island, N.Y.) had two RBI in each game and junior CF Jimmy Turchi totaled three hits in the two contests as Caldwell dropped a CACC baseball doubleheader to Post, 12-5 and 12-3, at Heritage Financial Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cougars took early leads in both games but both times Post rallied for the victories.

In the opener, Caldwell opened a 5-0 advantage, with a two-run Levine single in the second and run-scoring at-bats by senior SS Christian Rinick (Marlton, N.J.) and senior 2B Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.) keying the start.

In game two, Levine delivered a two-run single in the first for the Cougars (1-6, 0-2 CACC) for a 3-0 lead, but 11 runs in the next three frames pushed the Eagles (8-10, 2-0) to the win.

Sophomore righty Jovani Hallihan (Jackson, N.J.), freshman righty Jake Capra (Edgewater, N.J.) and senior righty Ryan Silnik (Washington Twp., N.J.) each pitched scoreless frames for Caldwell.

The Cougars next host Goldey-Beacom in a three-game weekend series, two games at Caldwell on Saturday (noon) and one in Wilmington, Del. on Sunday.
