NEWARK, DE. -- Senior guard/forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) and junior point guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) scored 23+ points each to pace Caldwell (17-6, 10-5 CACC) to a 90-66 women's basketball win over Wilmington (1-22, 0-15 CACC) at the WU Athletics Complex.
Coogan put up game-highs in points and rebounds with 26 points and nine boards. She dished out a team-high six assists.
Lewis scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, collected five assists, and had a game-high four steals.
Sophomore guard/forward
Sofia Maldonado (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) took advantage of her first career start opportunity, scoring eight points, picking up five rebounds, and forcing three steals.
The first half was a battle as Wilmington played tough. There were nine lead changes and four ties in the half.
The Cougars separated themselves in the second half with a 53 point scoring outburst. They limited Wilmington to just 33 points in both halves.
Junior guard
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, N.J.) finished with 14 points, while 10 Cougars scored in the contest.
Caldwell returns to the Newman Center for another bout against Bridgeport on Wednesday at 5:30 PM.
