CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior guard
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds and senior forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) led all scorers with 20, as Caldwell women's basketball won its eighth straight, a workmanlike 66-50 CACC triumph over Bridgeport at the Newman Center on Wednesday evening.
With the victory, the Cougars (18-6, 11-5 CACC) have clinched a CACC playoff berth and currently sit in third place. The top four seeds host Quarterfinal games on March 3, and Caldwell University will host the semifinal and final rounds on March 7 and 8 at the Newman Center.
The Cougars led by a slim margin for most of the first quarter, with a jumper by junior guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) putting CU up, 17-16, after the period. UB (9-11, 7-8 CACC) hung tough, trailing by just two at 23-21 midway through the second. But the Cougars finished the half on an 11-0 run, started and finished by  jumpers by Corbett for a 34-21 halftime edge.
UB got to within eight with five straight points to start the third, but a jumper and two free throws by Coogan put Caldwell back up by 12. The Purple Knights would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.
Lewis finished with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, and junior guard
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, N.J.) scored 11 as Caldwell won its 18th game of the season, most since 2017-18.Â
Savannah Prescott led UB with 11 points and Zahkiyyah Frazier had a double-double with 10 and 12.
Caldwell next visits Chestnut Hill on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Philadelphia.
