CALDWELL, N.J. -- Freshman forward
Charlie Tecke (Auckland, New Zealand), freshman defender
Henry Krause (Gera, Germany) and sophomore midfielder
Mark Ibarra (Elizabeth, N.J.) scored within a 15-minute second-half span, propelling host Caldwell University to a 3-0 triumph over Post University in a CACC men's soccer match at Caldwell Athletic Field on Tuesday afternoon. And it was another freshman, goalkeeper
Diogo Da Silva (Newark, N.J.) whose four saves and second clean sheet in a week kept the Eagles off the scoreboard and gave CU the win.
Tecke blasted a one-timer off a flick from junior midfielder
Gonzalo Lopez (San Juan, Argentina) following a long throw in by Krause in the 52nd minute for the first CU goal. Six minutes later, Krause gained control about 30 yards from goal, beat three defenders then beat the keeper into the right corner of the goal to double the CU advantage. Ibarra capped the scoring with another nifty marker, as sophomore midfielder
Joel Rueda (Harrison, N.J.) fed sophomore defender
Bilel Mahamadou (Lyon, France), who immediately crossed to Ibarra waiting to bang it into the open right side of the net from two yards away for the capper.
Caldwell (4-6-2, 2-3-2 CACC) outshot Post, 11-9, in the contest.Â
The Cougars look to keep the momentum going in another key league matchup on Saturday vs. Georgian Court. Game time is 12 noon, with the Senior Day ceremony preceding the contest.
