NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior forward
Emilio Segovia (Mexico City) has been named CACC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 7, the league announced today.
Segovia's tally came on an assist by junior midfielder
Frank Lozano (Cali, Colombia), who took a long feed from sophomore defender
Pieter Hengeveld (Weert, Netherlands) from midfield into the right corner, dribbled along the goal line and lifted a perfect cross to Segovia, who buried a header into the open net for the 1-0 Cougars lead.
Eight minutes later, Rake took a short pass from Segovia near the top of the box and drilled it past the keeper to double CU's lead to 2-0.
Segovia is in his first year at Caldwell after transferring from Saint Thomas University (Fla.) by way of Longwood University and LSU Eunice.
In addition, junior GK
Justin Talbot (Moorestown, N.J.) was named to the league's Honor Roll after recording 13 saves in two games including a shutout, his fifth career clean sheet.
He and the rest of the Cougars return to action on Thursday at Quinnipiac, and begin CACC play next Wednesday, Sept. 17, vs. Dominican.
