Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) and freshman right fielder
Lexi Weiss (Norristown, PA.) led CU with two hits apiece in the second game of the doubleheader against #25 ranked Pace (24-8). Pace won game 1 4-0 and game 2 8-3 at Pace Softball Field.
Tavaska had two doubles and Weiss hit two singles.
In game 1, Caldwell's hard-hitting bats were shut down by Pace's best pitcher. The Cougars were limited to just two hits.
Pace scored all four of their runs in the first three innings in the shutout win. Caldwell had an opportunity to get some runs on the board in the 7th but could not capitalize with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
In game 2, CU (18-19) erupted for 10 hits. Eight different Cougars had a hit.
Pace jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning.
Caldwell scored two runs in the top of the 2nd inning on a throwing error by the Pace catcher. Pace answered back in the bottom of the 2nd with two runs on a RBI single and a fielder's choice to increase their lead to 5-2.
The Cougars trimmed the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the 3rd when freshman third baseman
Lindsay Oller (South Plainfield, N.J.) hit a RBI single, driving in Tavaska.
Pace then put the game away in the 5th inning with a 2-run double and a RBI single.
Caldwell will host Georgian Court at Caldwell Athletic Fields on Senior Day! in a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday.
