In the opener, the Cougars had runners in scoring position in the third, fourth and fifth innings but couldn't push them across, spoiling a fine effort by Hill, who went the distance in the circle, fanning five.
In the nightcap, the Cougars got on the board first on Tavaska's sacrifice fly, then after UB (23-9, 13-1 CACC) went ahead in the fourth, the Cougars (18-21, 9-7) evened it on a fielder's choice grounder by Klein. But a six-run fifth put the Purple Knights up for good.
