CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior LF
Jimmy Kurtz (Buena, N.J.) laced five hits, junior DH
Stephen Young Jr. (Middlesex, N.J.) had four hits, including a home run, and stole a base and senior RF
Liam Lombardi (Stony Point, N.Y.) also had a home run as Caldwell baseball dropped a doubleheader to CACC North leader Dominican, 19-9 and 13-8, at Kiwanis Oval on Thursday.
The Cougars fell behind, 9-0, in the opener, before an RBI double by Young Jr. and RBI single by junior catcher
Chris Hopf (Middlesex, N.J.) got them on the board in the second. Later a two-run single by senior 3B
Sean Brown (West Orange, N.J.), RBI walk to Hoff and four-run seventh highlighted by Young's fourth home run of the year provided the final margin.
In the nightcap, Lombardi's two-run, opposite field blast to left put the Cougars ahead, 3-2, in the second, but the Chargers (29-14 overall, 23-7 CACC) scored nine runs in their half of the third to effectively put the game away.
The Cougars take the Easter weekend off before traveling to Lincoln for a pair of CACC matchups on Wednesday in Pennsylvania.
