Glatfelter Scores Season-High Five Goals as Men's Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short Against Chestnut Hill

Johnson collects game-high five assists; Himmel-Maines makes 12 saves

CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior midfielder Zakkery Glatfelter (New Oxford, PA) scored a season-high five goals to pace Caldwell (0-10, 0-6 CACC) in a close 13-9 loss to the Chestnut Hill Griffins (6-4, 5-1 CACC) at the Kiwanis Oval.

Senior midfielder Peter Johnson (Cedar Grove, N.J.) collected a game-high five assists.

The Griffins got on the board first with a goal 34 seconds into the match. The Cougars responded with three straight goals by
junior attack man Gavin Starr (Montgomery, N.Y.), Glatfelter and sophomore attack man Spencer Knapp (Point Pleasant, N.J.) to take a 3-1 lead.

Chestnut Hill then went on a scoring spree and put eight consecutive goals in the back of the net to go up 9-3 at halftime

Caldwell buried two goals to start the third, a man-up marker by freshman midfielder Conor Pinkham (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and Glatfelter's second goal of the game to cut the deficit to 9-5. Both teams then exchanged goals until the Griffins had a 12-7 advantage in the beginning of the 4th period.

CU tried to mount a comeback as Glatfelter beat the CHC goalkeeper for two more goals, with both assisted by Johnson, to trim the lead to 12-9

CHC scored a late insurance goal with under a minute left for the final margin.

Junior midfielder Jimmy Novak (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) picked up his first assist of the season. Junior goalkeeper Edwin Himmel-Maines (Delta, Pa.) made 12 saves.

Caldwell will host Bridgeport in its home finale on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
