Tiana Cipot (North Brunswick, N.J.) scored four goals and freshman midfielder
Gloria Carpenter (Los Angeles) notched her first three collegiate markers as Caldwell women's lacrosse fell just short in a 12-10 loss to STAC at Kiwanis Oval on Thursday evening.
Six second-half goals helped CU narrow an 8-4 halftime deficit, getting to within 12-9 on a Cipot tally off a free position with 7:43 to play. Carpenter's man-down effort with 0:20 left provided the final margin.
Junior goalkeeper
Sarahkate Schneider (Somerset, N.J.) was outstanding in goal, nabbing 15 saves.Â
Junior midfielder
Meghan Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) had two goals and freshman
Jessica George (South Brunswick, N.J.) had one for Caldwell (0-2). Cipot added two assists and four ground balls for the Cougars.
Senior defender
Crystal Johnson (Gloucester City, N.J.) was outstanding on defense for the Cougars, recording a team-best five ground balls and matching senior defender
Brady Kells (Parsippany, N.J.) with three caused turnovers on the evening.'
STAC (2-1) was led by Hailey Galison with five goals.
Caldwell next host Holy Family on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Kiwanis Oval.
