SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. -- A long weekend of bowling ended in disappointment for Caldwell bowling as the squad fell just short of its third consecutive CACC Championship, advancing to the Final round with a 2-1 win over Dominican but falling, 2-1, to top-seeded Felician at Pike Lanes.
The two-time defending champions gave it their all. Senior
Lauren Marks (Parsippany, N.J.) and soph
Allie Rumfield (Phillipsburg, N.J.) were selected to the All-Tournament team.
Against #4 Dominican, the fourth-seeded Cougars won the Traditional match, with freshman
Faith Perrin (Brick Twp., N.J.) posting a match-best 223, Rumfield rolling a 196 and junior
Samantha Glunk (Chatham, N.J.) checking in at 191. After the Lady Chargers took the Baker format, the Cougars won the Best of format, 4-1, with team games of 216, 213 and 203 doing the job.
It was the reverse against the Golden Falcons, with the #1 seeds winning a narrow Traditional match despite a 184 by Marks and 177 by Rumfield, and the Cougars storming back to grab the Baker by a wide 979-874 margin. CU led, 2-1, in the Best of, but Felician won the last three to clinch the Championship.
