RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The sophomore guard duo of
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) and
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, N.J.) scored 18 and 16 points, respectively, to lead Caldwell women's basketball (12-9, 6-4 CACC) past the Felician Golden Falcons (8-14, 3-7 CACC) 63-45 at the Joal & Joseph Job Gymnasium.
Lewis finished one rebound shy of her third double-double and added three assists.
Sophomore guard
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) posted another superb all-around performance. She scored six points, had three assists, one block, five rebounds and a season-high six steals.
Caldwell took care of business in this one. They forced Felician to turn the ball over a whopping 32 times, capitalizing by scoring 32 points off FU turnovers.
Aguilar knocked down a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to put the Cougars up 36-20 at the half. After Felician pulled to within eight at 49-41 with 5:58 to go in the fourth, junior forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) started a 6-0 run that also included buckets by Corbett and Aguilar for a 14-point Cougars lead, and the hosts would get no closer than 12 the rest of the way.
Coogan finished with 13 points and nine rebounds and now has 994 career points.
The win moved Caldwell to 6-4 in the CACC; The Cougars hold a three game lead in the loss column for the #2 spot in the North division.
CU will return home on Saturday to face the South division second-place Jefferson Rams who are on a six-game winning-streak, at1:00 PM.
