CALDWELL, N.J. -- Junior forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) scored a season-high 28 points and made a career-high six triples, as women's basketball (14-12, 8-6 CACC) took out their CACC rival and CACC North leader Dominican Chargers (20-7, 12-3 CACC) 61-48 at the Newman Center.
Sophomore guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) scored 12 points and grabbed 10 defensive rebounds to collect her third double-double.
Caldwell dominated Dominican from start to finish. CU did not allow the Chargers to hold a lead at any point in the game.
The Cougars' held a commanding 26 point advantage (47-21) at the 9:24 mark of the third quarter.
Coogan went off in the first quarter. She scored 14 points and drained four threes.
Sophomore guard
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) held Dominican's leading scorer Tanasia Mills to six points on 2-of-10 shooting. Corbett also had three steals and nine rebounds.
Freshman guard
Shayne Eldridge (Wall, N.J.) got in double figures for the first time this season with 12 points.
Caldwell will look to build off of this win when they welcome the Wilmington Wildcats team to the Newman Center on Tuesday at 5:30 PM. With a win in that game or against Bloomfield next Saturday, the Cougars would clinch the #2 seed and home game in the first round of the CACC Tournament on March 4.
