PHILADELPHIA -- Sophomore guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) led Caldwell in scoring with 11 points, as women's basketball (13-12) fell to a first-place Jefferson Rams squad (19-6) 58-33 at the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center in a non-league contest that does not count in the CACC standings.
Freshman guard
Shayne Eldridge (Wall, N.J.) and sophomore forward
Nia Clemons (No. Plainfield, N.J.) shared the team-lead with nine rebounds each.
The Cougars had a difficult time in this one with several key players out including the sophomore guard duo of
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, N.J.).
CU went on a mini 7-0 run between the end of the second quarter and the beginning of the third quarter to cut Jefferson's lead to six (29-23).
Jefferson would take control of the game from that point and pull away for their tenth consecutive win.
Caldwell will return to the Newman Center, for their final three-game homestand when they host Dominican, in the first game of the Super Saturday doubleheader at 1 PM. A win would go a long way to help the Cougars secure the #2 North seed in the CACC Tournament, which begins at campus sites on March 4.
