BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Sophomore guard
Isaiah Philbert (Bronx, N.Y.) poured in a career-high 30 but Caldwell committed 19 turnovers in a 95-72 CACC loss to Bridgeport at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. Philbert converted on five three pointers but along with 13 points from junior guard
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) were the only bright spots on a rough day for the Cougars (15-8 overall, 7-5 CACC).
The Cougars got behind early in this one, trailing by as many as 21 in the first half at 38-17 with 6:38 left. But the visitors rallied, outscoring Bridgeport (14-10, 8-4), 19-9 to cut their deficit to 11 by halftime at 47-36.
But the second half began much like the first, as UB scored the first eight points after intermission and the Cougars would not threaten thereafter.
Junior forward
Moussa Ngom (Dakar, Senegal) was solid for Caldwell with seven points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Caldwell next visits Post in a key CACC matchup in Waterbury, Conn. on Saturday.
