WATERBURY, Conn. - Sophomore guard
Jaiden Williams (New York), senior guard
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) and junior guard
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 11 points apiece and senior forward Derick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) put up 10 as Caldwell men's basketball fell, 88-57, at Post in a CACC battle at the Drubner Center on Sunday.
The Cougars started off hot, jumping to an 18-9 lead that included two threes by Williams and was capped by a fast break layup by Evans. But Post (14-12,8-6 CACC) later took the lead and held a 35-34 edge at halftime.Â
After an Evans layup put the Cougars back up, 36-35, the hosts would score 15 of the next 18 points for a double-digit lead, and the Cougars (15-9,7-6 CACC) would get no closer than seven the rest of the way.
Evans added four assists and two steals for Caldwell.
The Cougars visit Jefferson on Wednesday in an extra, non-league contest, then host Dominican on Super Saturday at the Newman Center.
