The Cougars trailed by double digits after halftime before a putback basket by freshman forward Terence Thompson (Rochester, N.Y.) pulled Caldwell to within eight at 52-44 with 14:36 left.
Caldwell stayed competitive on the boards, with the team collecting 39 rebounds and earning 13 second-chance points. Thompson contributed nine rebounds. The Cougars used their defensive rebounds to create some transition opportunities, finishing with 13 fast-break points.
In the second half, Caldwell stayed within reach, but a few missed chances kept them from getting closer. With just over six minutes left, the Cougars forced a turnover but couldn't take advantage. Felician scored on the next possession, beginning a brief run that gave the Golden Falcons the chance they needed to finish the game.
