GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- Junior guard Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) had a game-high 24 points and senior forward Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) added 19 as Caldwell women's basketball limited Pace to 26% shooting in a 49-36 win in the second round of the Conference Challenge at the Center for Recreation and Sport at Adelphi University.

The Cougars (1-1) trailed, 22-17, at the half, and were still behind, 26-19, with seven minutes to plat in the third. But they closed the quarter with a 15-0 run for a 34-26 advantage heading into the final period. A three-pointer by Coogan extended Caldwell's advantage to 11, and the stifling CU defense, led by junior guard Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.), who had game-highs of 12 rebounds and five steals, limited the Setters (1-1) to 25.9% shooting from the floor, including just five of 33 (15%) from three point range. 

Lewis added seven rebounds and junior forward Harmony Earth-Wiley (Southfield, Mich.) grabbed six.

The Cougars next host Queens in their home opener on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
