MANSFIELD, Pa. -- Sophomore quarterback Josh Smith (Parsippany, N.J.) passed for 114 yards and senior WR Arjun Petgrave (Cranford, N.J.) caught five passes for 69 yards as Caldwell Sprint Football was defeated by Mansfield, 31-0 at Karl Van Norman Field on Saturday afternoon.

In all, the Cougars (1-2) totalled 278 yards of offense and twice had drives end inside the MU five yard line without scoring.

Late in the first half, the Cougars, trailing 14-0, stopped the Mountaineers (2-0) inside the CU 10 yard line on fourth down. The Cougars marched down the field but turned it over on downs heading into halftime.

Junior Curt McDougald (Elizabeth, N.J.) rushed for a team-high 51 yards on 13 carries.

Marcus Quaker passed for 74 yards and a TD and rushed for 103 yards and three scores for the Mountaineers.

Caldwell next hosts STAC on Saturday at 1 p.m. at James Caldwell High School.
