NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Sophomore defender
Ayla Fraser (Passaic, N.J.) earned her second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Defensive Player of the Week honor, the league announced today. Fraser notched her second goal of the season in a 2-1 win over Queens and played standout defense in both Cougars victories this week.
Fraser played the first 82 minutes of an eventual 4-1 CACC triumph over Lincoln, during which the Lions did not score. She recorded two shots, one on goal, in the contest.
Fraser shared this week's honor with fellow co-Defensive Player of the Week Stella McCallion of Chestnut Hill.
Then against Queens she redirected a saved shot into the goal for the first CU marker.
Senior forward
Rosio Cardenas (Forked River, N.J.) was named to the league's weekly Honor Roll for the third straight week after notching a goal in her sixth straight game vs. Lincoln and assisting on the winning tally vs. Queens.
The Cougars visit Post on Tuesday and Holy Family on Saturday in two key CACC contest as they seek to secure a home game in the CACC Quarterfinals on Nov. 8.
