Aimar Carter (Clifton, N.J.) netted their first goals of the season as Caldwell Men's Soccer (1-1) shut out Saint Michael's College (1-1) 2-0 at Doc Jacobs Field.
Kilic's header that came off a corner kick in the fifth minute proved to be the game-winner. Junior midfielder
Ingebrigt Braenden (Trondheim, Norway) picked up the assist.
Caldwell outshot the Purple Knights 13-12 and had six more shots on goal in the contest, 8-2. The Cougars defense was on point all day, stopping seven corner kick chances from the NE10 foe.
Carter doubled the Cougars' edge early in the second half, with an assist credited to sophomore forward
Cleff Alexis (Toledo Parana, Brazil) in the 52nd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Justin Talbot (Moorestown, N.J.) (two saves in 90 minutes) kept the Purple Knights off the scoreboard, making two saves to earn the shutout in his first career start.
The game marked the first meeting between the schools in men's soccer.
