Caldwell, N.J. Â -- Sophomore defender
Yigit Kilic (Istanbul, Türkiye) sent the Caldwell faithful into a frenzy as his goal in the 79th minute tied the score at 1 as Caldwell Men's Soccer (1-1-1) came back to shock the Franklin Pierce Ravens (2-0-1) with a 1-1 draw in the Cougars' home opener at Caldwell Athletics Field.Â
Sophomore goalkeeper
Justin Talbot (Moorestown, N.J.) (twelve saves in 90 minutes) made some crucial saves to give his team a chance to tie the game.
The Cougars, playing a man down for the last 15 minutes of the game due to a red card ejection, managed to strike back on Kilic's second goal of the season, in which he took a feed from junior midfielderÂ
Ingebrigt Braenden (Trondheim, Norway), dribbled past a defender and drilled a shot past the FPU keeper. Kilic had wrested control of the ball on the right sideline from the FPU defender and passed to Braenden, who threaded it into open space where Kilic finished.
The Cougars will face St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, N.Y. next Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
