Joey Datta (Edison, N.J.) took first place and senior
Alfredo Oidor (Garfield, N.J. finished 12th as Caldwell men's cross country placed fourth of 14 teams competing at the season-opening Adelphi Panthers XC Invitational at Bethpage Polo at the Park on Friday afternoon.
Datta completed the 8K course in 25:44.2 more than six seconds ahead of the nearest competitor to take the crown. Oidor was not far behind at 26:50.0, while three other Cougars placed among the top 31 scorers in the field of 109 starters.
Sophomore
Logan Kudla (Bloomfield, N.J.) was 30th (28th scoring) in 28:50.5, freshman
Luke Molyneux (Ocean Township, N.J.) was 31st (29th) at 29:05.7 and junior
Chad Manning (Belleville, N.J.) took 33rd (31st) at 29:11.2.
The Cougars also got a fine performance from soph
Alex Jamieson (Portree, Scotland) in 41st (29:57.3).
Caldwell next travels down the Garden State Parkway to Galloway, N.J. on Sept. 14 for the Stockton Osprey Open.
