SPARKILL, N.Y. -- Caldwell volleyball finished competition at the East Coast Conference Challenge on Saturday, falling 3-1 to East Stroudsburg and 3-0 to host St. Thomas Aquinas.
Against ECU, the Cougars battled back after dropping the first two sets, winning the third with a late six-point run that snapped a 17-17 tie, caped by two service aces by senior hitter
Alexa McEwan (Beachwood, N.J.) and a kill by junior hitter
Natalie Piper (Long Beach, Calif.) for a 23-17 lead. Junior hitter
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) finished off the set with one of her team-best 11 kills.
Against STAC (4-4), Schubert-Brown picked up where she left off, garnering a team-best eight kills. Junior
Jordan Mack (Yorba Linda, Calif.) had a team-high nine digs and added seven assists for the Cougars (0-4).
Caldwell returns home for their Newman Center debut on Wednesday, taking on University of Bridgeport in the CACC opener beginning at 5 p.m.
